Marvin and Alma Dove, Tonganoxie, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 8, at the Linwood Community Building.
The Doves were married Sept. 5, 1959, at a church wedding in Seibert, Colo. They moved to Linwood in 1971 and have lived in southern Leavenworth County since that time.
Upon graduation from the University of Northern Colorado, Marvin served in the U.S. Air Force for six years as a pilot, mostly in Southeast Asia, rising to the rank of captain. He joined Trans World Airlines in 1968 as a pilot, retiring in 1998 after 30 years.
Alma has served as city clerk, city treasurer and as a Linwood City Council member. She has served as an election judge for Leavenworth County since the 1970s.
Their children, who are playing host at the event, are Cheryl Jacobs, Lawrence; Eric Dove, Linwood; and Syndi Dove, Linwood.
Charlie and Barb McCord, Bonner Springs, are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.
Charlie McCord and Barb Tuter were married Aug. 9, 1959, at Mission Creek Baptist Church in Edwardsville.
Charlie was drafted into the U.S. Army two months after the wedding, and served in Fort Belvoir, Va., and Korea.
He retired in 1999 from Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway after 43 years, including 25 years at Rock Island Railroad.
Barb was a stay-at-home mom and then worked 10 years at Kansas City Kansas Community College and 13 years at Seaboard Corp.
They are parents of two children, Steve (Brenda) McCord and Lori (Scott) Reeves, and three grandchildren, Charlie (Mary) McCord, Aubrey McCord and Hannah Reeves.
The couple will celebrate their anniversary on Saturday, Aug. 1, at the New Theater Restaurant.
