Flutist Rebecca Ashe
Flutist Rebecca Ashe will perform in concert, at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 11, at the Carnegie Arts Center, 601 S. Fifth St., Leavenworth. The concert is free to the public. Ashe earned her bachelor's degree in applied music (flute) at the Eastman School of Music. Her principal teacher was Bonita Boyd. She earned her master of musical arts from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where she is currently a candidate for the doctor of musical arts. She is presently the adjunct professor of music theory, aural skills and world music at Park University in Parkville, Mo.
Ashe has studied under such renowned teachers as William Bennett and Karl Kraber and in 1998 she was one of four flutists worldwide and the only American to be chosen for Trevor Wye's prestigious one-year course in Kent, England.
