Golf Classic to benefit Shawnee Community Services

The second annual Golf Classic to benefit Shawnee Community Services is set for May 15 at Falcon Lakes Golf Club, 4605 Clubhouse Drive, Basehor. Registration is at 11 a.m., lunch at 11:30 a.m. and a modified shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. Cost is $125 per player, and space is limited to 70 participants. Hole sponsorships also are available. To learn more or to register, go online to Shawnee Community Services executive director Sylvia Terry said the charity hopes the tournament will help it reach its goal of raising $10,000 this year for its new facility fund. Shawnee Community Services, 11110 W. 67th St., runs a food pantry and thrift store and provides financial help with rent and utilities to families in need from the surrounding area. Plans are in place to construct a new facility on an empty lot next door to Shawnee Community Services’ existing building.
