BLHS athletes to play in All-Star contests
The high school sports season may be over, but four Basehor-Linwood senior athletes will still be able to showcase their skills next week.
Mike Peerson, Jake Davis, Jackie Horn and Kelly Laffere have been selected to participate in area all-star sporting events
Peerson and Davis will play in the 2001 Greater Kansas City Football Coaches Association All-Star Football Challenge on June 7 at the Olathe District Activities Center. Game time is 7 p.m.
Peerson, a linebacker, and Davis, defensive lineman, will play for the Kansas squad, who have been practicing at the MidAmerican Nazarene University in Olathe.
Coaching the Kansas squad will be Aaron Barnett of Eudora.
Horn and Laffere will play in the first Metro High School Softball Mo-Kan All-Star Series on Monday, June 4.
The three-game series will be held at Adair Park in Independence, Mo. The first game of the best 2-out-of-3 series will be a seven-inning game, beginning at 6 p.m.
Game 2, also a seven-inning contest, will be played at 7:30 p.m. If necessary, Game 3 will start at 9 p.m. and will last five innings.
The series will showcase some of the top high school softball seniors in the Kansas City metro area.
Mill Valley head coach Pat Sullivan has been selected to the Kansas' coaching staff.
Admission prices for the event will be $2 for adults. Ages 12 and under will be admitted free.
