Services for Fred J. Cain, 71, Kansas City, Kan., were Nov. 19 at the Lohmeyer-Konantz Funeral Home, Lamar, Mo. Burial was in Newport Cemetery, Barton County, Mo.

Mr. Cain died Wednesday, Nov. 14, at Providence Medical Center.

Fred was born April 5, 1930, to Fred and Gertrude Cain in Conception Junction, Mo. Fred lived in Kansas City, Kan. for approximately 40 years. He worked at Lockjoint/Interpace/Price Brothers Pipe Company, Kansas City, Kan., from 1965 to 1991 in the gunnite and finishing department. He also worked at the Woodlands, Kansas City, Kan. from 1992 until the time of his death. Fred served in the US Army and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Lamar, Mo., and the National Horseshoe Pitcher's Association. He was also an active volunteer for the Wyandotte County 4-H program. He married Gloria Kaderly in 1964.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Gertrude Cain; and brothers and sisters, Lucille Cain, Irene Cain, Anna Keeler, Ray Cain, Lucy Walters, Walter Cain, and Clarence Cain.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria; two sons, Donald Cain, Rolla, Mo., and Brian Cain, Kansas City, Kan.; two daughters, Lorraine Shillcutt, Sedalia, Mo., and Karen Koontz, Basehor; one brother, Marvin Cain, Louisburg, Kan.; six grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren; and two step- great-grandchildren.
