Obit: Hobert Doyle Coon
Services for Hobert D. Coon, 80, Bonner Springs, were Oct. 6 at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, Bonner Springs. Burial was in the Bonner Springs Cemetery.
Mr. Coon died Thursday, Oct. 4, of kidney cancer at his home.
He was born June 2, 1921, in Sedalia, Mo. He served in World War II for four years, and married Thelma DeMaranville in 1946. He was a member of the Teamsters Union, Local 207, VFW No. 6401 and the Bonner Springs Baptist Church for more than 50 years. He worked at the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant and also was a mechanic for a number of dairies in the area. He retired from Myer Dairy in 1984.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Herbert Burl Coon, Billings Mont.; and his parents, Mary and Edward Coon, Bonner Springs.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Coon; two daughters, Darla Hicks and Susan Dean, both of Bonner Springs; two sisters, Zola Bundy, Bonner Springs, and Stella Stookey, Tucson, Ariz.; and four grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the Bonner Springs Baptist Church or Cancer Action.
