New hideout opens in Linwood
Steven Campbell, owner of Fro's Hideout in Linwood, spent the past six months renovating his new establishment.
And now that it's open, he's planning even more improvements.
"In the spring or summer, we could add on a kitchen and we're planning on a giant beer garden out back," Campbell said.
Campbell, a 1994 graduate of Basehor-Linwood High School, purchased the former Linwood Town Tavern building in May 2002.
After numerous renovations and a name change, the 1,800 square-foot private club opened its doors in November.
In addition to the renovations, Campbell added a big screen television, stereo system, foosball and pool tables, and a Golden Tee arcade game.
The bar is located at Fourth and Main streets.
Campbell said he purchased the bar because he's familiar with Linwood and enjoys the town.
"My family has done business in Linwood for 16 years at the sale barn," he said. "I like the town and I like the people."
Campbell said he has also received the support from the city of Linwood and its residents.
"The City Council, city planners and city people have been supportive and it's been appreciated," he said.
The bar is planning a grand opening for Super Bowl weekend, Campbell said.
A membership at Fro's Hideout is $10 and there is a 10-day waiting period.
The bar is open from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 12 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
