Obit: Charles Eugene Berry
Services for Charles Eugene Berry, 70, Edwardsville, were June 29 at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, Bonner Springs.
Mr. Berry died Wednesday, June 26, at Kansas City, Mo. VAMC.
Gene was born Oct. 25, 1931, in Kansas City, Mo. He worked for many years for Byers Trucks Line in Kansas City, Mo., and retired from Crouse Cartage Co., also of Kansas City, Mo. as a truck driver in 1985. He was a member of the Teamster's Union Local No. 41 for more than 30 years. Gene also served as a police officer for the city of Westwood, Kan. He was a U.S. Marine veteran of the Korean War and was presently the Post Commander for VFW Post No. 11885, Edwardsville. He was chairman on the board of directors of the Friends of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 42.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marsha L. Berry in June of 2001.
Survivors include one son, Brian Berry, Edwardsville; one daughter, Katherine DeFilippis, Kansas City, Kan.; two brothers, Robert K. Berry, Kansas City North, Mo., and Michael W. Berry, Independence, Mo.; six grandchildren and six great- grandchildren.
