Obit: Eunice Heck
Services for Eunice Heck, 79, Lansing, were June 22 at Alden-Harrington Chapel, Bonner Springs. Burial was in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Kansas City, Kan.
Mrs. Heck died Tuesday, June 18, at Twin Oaks Assisted Living, Lansing.
Eunice was born May 5, 1923, on an Osage Indian Reservation in South Central Missouri. She was a music teacher in the Piper area for more than 50 years. Many of her students who attained first-chair positions received music awards for excellence. She was a former member of the Wyandotte County Old Time Fiddlers, and while a member of that group, was also a member of the All Woman Group called the Better Half Band. She was also well known for her country-style cooking and at Swap & Shops in the area for her Indian Jewelry.
She was preceded in death by her husband Tom Heck on Feb. 14, 2002.
Survivors include one son Calvin Rolen, Lansing; one daughter, Sue Newell, Kansas City, Kan; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the Hospice of Kansas City.
