Obit: Mildred P. Sparks
Mildred P. Sparks, 85, Toganoxie died Sunday, June 23 at the Toganoxie Nursing Center.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. June 26 at Sacred heart Catholic Church, Tonganoxie, Ks. Rev. Mark Goldasich officiated. Burial will be in Hubbel Hill Cemetery, Toganoxie. The family received friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Quisenberry Funeral Home, Toganoxie where a prayer service took place.
Mrs. Sparks was born December 11, 1916 in Merriam, the daughter of Thomas and Katie (Behringer) Johnson. She and her husband owned and operated the Sparks Cafn Toganoxie and she retired in 1980 as a nurse's aid at Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, Kans. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Altar Society, Toganoxie Senior Citizens, and the Historical Society. On Jan. 17, 1933 she was united in marriage to John A. Sparks in Toganoxie. He preceded her in death Aug. 8, 1982.
She is survived by two sons, John and his wife, Mary Sparks, San Diego, Merl E. and his wife, Dawn Sparks, Tacoma, Wash; three daughters, Gladys Walters, Toganoxie, Marian E. and her husband, Cliff Betterton, Roach, Jean and her husband, Richard Thomas, Kansas City, Kans.; three sisters, Dorothy Klamm, Basehor, Mary Seward, Shawnee, and Kathryn Dunkin, Prosser, Wash; 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
