Obit: Nettie E. Burke
Graveside services for Nettie Burke, 92, Linwood, are 10 a.m., May 17, at Mt. Sidney Cemetery, Linwood. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 16, at the Alden-Harrington Chapel, Bonner Springs.
Mrs. Burke died Monday, May 13, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Lawrence.
Nettie was born Jan. 20, 1914, Kansas City, Kan. She was a member of the Linwood United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She was a former member of the Linwood Grange. She formerly worked at the KU Student Union and was a seamstress for the Independent Laundry, Lawrence as well as for Campbell's Clothing, Lawrence.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Burke, in 1994.
Survivors include one daughter, Barbara and husband Charles Riley, Baldwin; one sister Minnie Farmer, Overland Park; three grandsons, John Riley, Linwood, Mike Riley, Baldwin, and Bill Riley, Lawrence; three great-great -granddaughters, and one great-great-grandson.
The family suggests memorials to the Visiting Nurse Association or Linwood United Methodist Church.
