Barber shop relocating to Basehor
Mark's Barber Shop has kept a Bonner Springs address for the past eight years. Soon, however, customers wanting a haircut will have to travel to Basehor.
Mark Evans, owner and operator of Mark's Barber Shop, said he will move his business to a building just east of Basehor, at 15395 Briar Road, in June.
"I just think the area is growing in Basehor with easy access from the highway," Evans said. "It's a little bit more open area."
Evans' new shop will be located next door to J.B.'s Liquor, and will be roughly the same size as his Bonner Springs shop, with 400 square feet of space.
The move to Basehor will occur sometime in the middle of June, he said.
"I'm hoping to be in by the fifth, but I'd say its going to be closer to the fifteenth of June," Evans said.
The move to Basehor is the second one for Evans in the last year. In September, Evans and his wife moved from Spring Hill to a home just east of the city on Parallel Road.
"It's more convenient," he said. "I'd love to be home in five minutes or less, and it's a nice area."
Although he's leaving Bonner Springs, Evans said he hopes to keep all his current customers while gaining new ones from Basehor.
"I look for some growth, but Bonner has been good to me," Evans said. "I can't say that it hasn't."
In September, Evans will be hosting a customer appreciation day at the George Meyn Hall at Wyandotte County Park.
