BLHS homecoming parade set for Oct. 18
Basehor-Linwood High School officials are expecting a big turnout for this year's homecoming parade, scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18.
"(We're hoping) to get as many entries and interest as we can," BLHS Athletic Director Joe Keeler said. "I hope our event becomes bigger and bigger each year."
The theme of this year's parade is "Bobcat Paradise". BLHS student council members decided on the theme, Keeler said.
If anyone is interested in entering a float in this year's parade, they should contact BLHS at (913) 724-2266 and speak to Joyce McMillan.
The deadline for parade entries is Thursday, Oct. 17.
All parade entries must be lined up at 5 p.m. on the day of the parade. The designated locations for parade entries are:
Community or business floats are to line up in the circle drive and east parking lot of the Holy Angels church.
Large motorized vehicles, walking units and horses are to line up in the Basehor Elementary School parking lot.
Small motorized vehicles and bicycles are to line up at the Basehor-Linwood Virtual Charter School parking lot.
Keeler said dirt bikes would not be allowed in this year's parade.
The BLHS Booster Club will host a barbecue dinner at the high school from 4:30 to 7 p.m.
Following the dinner and parade, BLHS will face Lansing in a Kaw Valley league game at 7 p.m.
The homecoming dance is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 19 at BLHS.
