Chamber honors Wilderson with Spirit Award
Chuck Wilderson was presented with the Spirit Award at the Pride Meeting on Saturday, Feb. 1. The Basehor Chamber of Commerce presents the Spirit Award to individuals or couples who have demonstrated an extra effort to make a difference in the community. Wilderson was honored for "Keeping the Spirit of Pride Alive in Basehor." Debbie Bonee, Basehor Chamber president, made the presentation.
Chuck Wilderson has been involved in community activities since moving to Basehor in 1976. He has served on the Basehor City Council, Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and as president two times Southern Leavenworth County Leadership Development Board and as chairman six years, and chairman of Gold Pride and Basehor Pride. The Chamber of Commerce named him Outstanding Citizen of the Year in 1995.
Wilderson is credited with resurrecting the Pride committee in 1994. Kansas Pride recognized Basehor Pride as a Community Excellence Award winner in 1999, 2000 and 2001. He is currently serving as Chairman of the Basehor Pride organization. Chuck Wilderson and his wife, Jane, operate Wilderson Tree Farm in Basehor.
