Businesses enjoy new locations
Neighboring businesses in Basehor Town Square have both been pleased with the location of their new stores.
Shorty's Liquor and Tammy and Co. Salon and Tan are both located off of 155th Street and State Avenue. Kathy Breuer, who owns Shorty's along with her husband Jim, said the location has been advantageous.
"Business has been good and all the traffic and the banks have helped out visibility," Breuer said.
Shorty's is also located close to Kelley's Bar and Grille, which Breuer said has helped bring in customers as well. In addition to selling liquor, Shorty's will also be offering cigarettes, cigars and soft drinks.
Tammy Cobb, owner of Tammy and Co., said her salon has benefited from the clientele that followed her from her previous position as a stylist at York Hair Salon in Shawnee.
"I came out here because my banker said there would be a good opportunity to start a salon," Cobb said.
Cobb also said the location has been good for the fledgling business.
"I think that the town is big enough for two salons," Cobb said.
Shorty's has hours of 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Tammy and Co. is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and is closed on Sunday.
