Library adds book sale

June 4, 2003

With books available by everyone from William Shakespeare to Dean Koontz, the annual Friends of the Basehor Community Library fall book sale usually draws a large crowd.

The book sale does so well, in fact, library officials plan to host an additional book sale this weekend. The book sale serves as the primary fund-raiser for the library with proceeds funding programs throughout the year.

"(The book sale) has always done well in the fall so we thought we'd have one in both the spring and the fall," said Mandie Bannwarth, president of the Friends of the Basehor Community Library.

The book sale will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 6 and 7; on June 8, the sale will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Pebblebrooke senior center community room has been selected as the site hosting this year's sale, librarians said.

Prices of books vary, but typically hardback books can be purchased for $1 and paperback copies for 50 cents. On Sunday, the last day of the sale, shoppers can fill a bag full of books for $1, librarians said.
