Electrical problem causes fire
Fire investigators say an electrical problem caused the fire that damaged a building in Basehor last week.
On Wednesday, Feb. 26, a building in the 14500 block of Parallel Road caught fire, causing an estimated damage of more than $100,000, Fairmount Township Fire Department officials said.
The building houses a trucking company, and fire officials said the blaze probably began in the middle of the four truck bays.
No one was injured in the fire.
Stranger and Delaware township fire departments also responded to the blaze.
The mutual aid is mandatory for a structure fire in Leavenworth County, fire officials said.
"It's automatic in Leavenworth County," Fairmount Township Fire Department chief Jeff Theno said. "It's good for the community to have the mutual aid."
