New restaurant adds choices in Basehor

March 27, 2003

What's new?

Well, for starters, a restaurant in Basehor specializing in bagels and espresso.

Owners of the What's New Bagel and Espresso Bar said this week that their new eatery should be open by mid-April. It is located in the Basehor Town Square, 155th Street and Kansas Highway 24/40.

"We just wanted to bring something nice to Basehor," said Jeff Theno, who along with wife, Stephanie, are partners with Charlie and Michelle Canarata in the new venture.

"It's going to be a plus for the city of Basehor," Theno said.

The restaurant will be open from 5:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. A weekend schedule has not yet been determined, Theno said.

The breakfast menu of the restaurant will feature items such as bagels, muffins and pastries, with drinks such as espresso, cappucino, coffee, tea, orange juice and soda pop.

A "light lunch" menu of sandwiches and salads will also be available.

"It's just a place where some people can get together and have coffee or talk or have a meeting," Theno said.

The restaurant will have six or seven employees.

"We're excited," Theno said. "Basehor is growing and this is something that's different."

Something new.
