Car wash opening is planned Saturday

October 9, 2003

Imported cars and street hot rods will be on display Saturday, Oct. 11 during the grand opening of the Basehor Suds Car Wash, 15530 State Avenue.

The car show will run from noon to 3 p.m. and the Basehor Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new business at 11 a.m.

Owner Mario Moore said hot dogs and hamburgers will be served during the car show. Gifts such as T-shirts, key chains and hats will be given away and car washes will be offered at discount rates.

A regular, four-minute wash will be offered for $1 and the Super Wash, normally priced at $7, will cost just $5, the owner said.

The next weekend, Saturday, Oct18, is the rainout date, Moore said.

The car wash opened last month and is located just west of the Basehor Town Square, State Avenue and 155th Street. The five bay facility sits on 1.8 acres and encompasses approximately 4,000 square feet.

The car wash includes an automatic wash bay, a truck bay and three hand wash bays.

It also features some of the latest trends in car wash technology, including a carpet shampoo machine, a triple foam wash and a fragrance machine, the owner said.
