Tenant announcement delayed at Village West
Last month, Wyandotte County officials said they would announce new tenants to the Village West entertainment district in September. Those announcements have been pushed back until next month, said Don Denney, Wyandotte County spokesman.
"There's no reason to be alarmed because it's being put back a month," Denney said. "It's just that deals haven't been finalized as of yet."
An exact date for when those announcements will take place, has yet to be scheduled, the spokesman said.
Village West is a commercial, retail and entertainment district located in western Wyandotte County at the southeast corners of Interstate 435 and 70. The development encompasses approximately 400 acres and houses major tourist attractions in Kansas.
The newest crown jewel of the Village West is expected to be the Legends of Village West, a 500,000-square-foot shopping center currently under construction.
Some of the store and shops inside Legends were to be among those announcements this month, however, the delay is a minor set back and is not an indication of trouble looming at Village West, Denney said.
Another announcement expected in October will for a new movie theater provider at the entertainment district. Warren Theatres of Wichita was once thought to be coming to the Village West, but the deal fell through.
A deal with a new movie theater provider is in progress and nearing completion, Denney said.
