Lady ‘Cats bid farewell to seniors with Game 2 victory
In what has become a regular and moving tradition at Basehor-Linwood High School, the BLHS softball program said goodbye to another crop of seniors Tuesday, April 27.
Chelsea Flowers, Nicole Kirk and Terra Nichols all played their last game at the Basehor Field of Dreams as members of the BLHS softball team.
Although BLHS lost the first game to Lansing, 6-3, the Lady 'Cats battled back and sent the seniors out with a win in game two, burying the Lady Lions, 10-3.
Between games, the seniors were recognized for their contributions to the program.
They were presented with autographed softballs, framed pictures and several hugs.
In addition, a handful of BLHS alumni were on hand to be honored for their contributions, as well.
BLHS coach Susan Mayberry said the tradition started partly because she wanted to pay tribute to the outgoing seniors but also because she wanted to create and keep a family feeling within the BLHS program.
