Lions Club offers scholarship

December 2, 2004

Lansing Lions Club again will sponsor the Bob Ames Scholarship for current senior class members of Lansing and Leavenworth high schools.

The scholarship is for $1,500 and is based upon demonstrated leadership and/or service to the community by the applicants.

In addition to the scholarships, deserving applicants who have truly excelled in service and those who have excelled in leadership will be referred to Lansing PRIDE, who in turn may forward information to the Kansas State PRIDE program for statewide recognition.

Last year's scholarship winners received awards and state recognition.

Bob Ames, for whom the scholarship is named, was a longtime Lansing Lion who epitomized community service and leadership. His wife, Pat, and their children want to continue that heritage through the scholarship.
