Museum marks gallery reopening
The Wyandotte County Historical Society and Museum will celebrate the reopening of their East Gallery during an event Saturday at the museum in Bonner Springs.
The gallery was closed four months for the $150,000 redesign.
The gallery features a 1903 horse-drawn steam pumper, a community life area where children can try on representative clothing from various time periods as well as a real fireman's jacket, a B-25 tail section stabilizer and rudder assembly, an exhibit on the life of the World War I and II Wyandotte County veteran, and an exhibit on life in a one-room school.
The dedication and reopening will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Santa will be present, and children will be able to make a Victorian ornament.
The museum is at 631 N. 126th St. in Bonner Springs, in the Wyandotte County Park.
