Lansing churches plan special services for Christmas Eve, New Year’s Day
Churches in and around Lansing will celebrate the birth of Christ with special services beginning tonight and continuing through Sunday.
Wallula Christian Church, 23785 139th St., will have its Christmas Eve service at 6 p.m. Friday; its Sunday service will be at 10:30 a.m. and will be the only service of the day.
St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 900 Ida, will have its children's program at 4:40 p.m. Friday. Christmas Eve Masses are at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. The church also will mark the holiday with its traditional Midnight Mass at 12 a.m. and a morning Mass at 10 a.m. Saturday. The normal Mass schedule will be observed Sunday.
Apostolic Deliverance Tabernacle, 116 E. Kay, will have a 6:30 p.m. candlelight service today. It will follow its regular schedule with Sunday school at 10:15 a.m. and the Morning Glory service at 11 a.m. The church is planning a 9:30 p.m. New Year's Eve special service and 12:30 a.m. breakfast shortly after the new year begins.
Lansing First Southern Baptist, 306 4-H Road, will have a Christmas Eve service at 5:30 p.m. Friday. Though no services are scheduled Christmas day, there will be a special musical service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the church.
Lansing United Methodist, 107 E. Kay St., will celebrate Christmas Eve with a candlelight service at 7 p.m. Friday. After the service, church members will distribute cookies and treats around town in places where business hours keep people working into the evening hours of Christmas Eve.
The church also will hold Sunday services at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Bethel Tabernacle, 704 E. Eisenhower St., had not yet completed its plans for Christmas services.
