Man’s trial set Jan. 6
After pleading no contest to charges in Basehor municipal court last month, a Leavenworth man accused of assaulting a local police officer filed an appeal with Leavenworth County District Court.
His bench trial is scheduled to take place at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 6 and will include testimony from three Basehor police officers.
Eric Finney is charged in municipal court with assaulting a law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct, battery against a law enforcement officer and obstruction of justice.
In municipal court last month, he pleaded no contest to the charges and appealed his case to district court.
Police said Finney came to the police department in April thinking his daughter was being held in custody there. When police told Finney the city didn't have a jail and that his daughter was being held in Leavenworth, he became agitated.
