Chateau Avalon offers lodgers an ‘experience’
If you just want lodging, find yourself a motel. If you want an experience, visit Chateau Avalon, an upscale bed and breakfast and most recent addition to the Village West tourism and entertainment district in western Wyandotte County.
Chateau Avalon, a 62-suite resort at 701 Village West Parkway, hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening Monday. Officials with the Unified Government of Wyandotte County said the scenic destination is another feather in the cap for Village West.
"We're delighted," said county spokesman Don Denney. "This is another destination point and will be a magnet in drawing people to our community."
The Village West district is home to the state's top three tourist attractions already. The Kansas Speedway, Cabela's and Nebraska Furniture Mart are all bringing in record number of visitors.
Chateau Avalon features a wide array of suites from the Monte Cristo, a three-story suite with a $349 per night cost, to the more economical Seville, a Spanish-styled suite that costs $159 per night. Prices for the dozens of other suites fall between those two ends.
The grounds of the resort were designed to be as unique as the rooms themselves, representatives said.
The surrounding area includes European landscaping, cobblestone sidewalks and various fountains and statues. Inside, rooms are equipped with 27- to 60-inch flat-screen televisions and whirlpool bathtubs.
In addition to hosting overnight guests, Chateau Avalon will also be a location for weddings, honeymoons, anniversaries, church retreats or reunions.
The Beaumont Stateroom, located on the top floor, can accommodate all of those occasions and more, representatives said.
The Chateau Avalon is located south of the Kansas Speedway, off the corners of interstates 435 and 70. For more information or to make reservations, call 1-877-KC AVALON or (913) 596-6000.
