Bonner puts its best foot forward
As Officer Andrew Bair chatted with Roger Miller in front of Miller Pharmacy Monday morning, it was rather hard not to notice the man with the big camera aimed directly at them.
The conversation was actually set up for the promotional video of Bonner Springs produced by Pat Summerall Productions, a benefit of being selected by the Summerall company as a Champions of Industry 300 Best Small Community to Live In.
Though it may have been staged, the conversation was something that happened often on Bair's patrol of the downtown area, which is usually Wednesdays through Sundays. And that is the point of the video: to give the companies and developers who will view it an idea of what the community of Bonner Springs is like.
"We tried to put together what we think is a comprehensive schedule to promote the community in the best way possible," said Nancy Johnson, Convention and Tourism Committee liaison.
At 10:30 a.m. Monday, the schedule put the videographer, Johnson, and community and economic development director Marcia Ashford on Oak Street for half an hour. From 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., the three-person group trouped through the city taking shots for the five to six-minute video.
Pat Summerall Productions will work to piece together and write a script for the video, which will be made into a compact disc the city can copy and use as promotion. A two-minute version of the video will be aired sometime in September on CNN's Headline News Network.
