Schools hire director

September 2, 2004

Improving communications between the public and the school district has been a priority for the Basehor-Linwood School District since superintendent Jill Hackett assumed the district's top post last year.

Hackett and the school district moved a step closer to securing that goal this week by hiring the district's first communication's director.

Heather Myer, a 2000 graduate of Shawnee Mission North and an alumnus of Azusa Pacific University in California, began her new job Monday morning and was officially introduced to school board members and building administrators during a work session Monday.

Myer's responsibilities will include event planning for the non-profit Basehor-Linwood Education Foundation, helping coordinate the school district newsletter and maintaining and improving the school district's Web site.

Myer graduated from Azusa Pacific with a degree in communication studies with an emphasis in journalism.
