Welcome back, Bobcat: homecoming scheduled
If your idea of freaky deaky is a dynamite perm, a groovy blend of gold chains and mood rings and the slickest leisure suit polyester has to offer, then for one day later this month you'll be all the rage.
Preparations are under way for this year's Basehor-Linwood High School Homecoming parade and festivities. This year's theme is "That 70s parade."
The soul train, er parade, is slated to begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24 and will run between Leavenworth and Parallel Roads along 155th Street. All floats need to meet at either the Basehor Elementary School parking lot, 155th Terrace or 156th Street by 5 p.m.; walking groups and decorated motorized vehicles also need to meet by that time at the sixth-grade center.
Motorcycles or dirt bikes will not be allowed as parade entries.
Those wishing to participate in the parade should contact Joyce McMillen at BLHS, (913) 724-2266, by Thursday, Sept. 23 for more information.
As part of the Homecoming festivities, the BLHS Booster Club will sponsor a barbecue from 4 to 7 p.m. at the high school. The Bobcats play host to league rival Immaculata and kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
At halftime, the shag carpet will be rolled out for homecoming king and queen candidates.
