Basehor looking at 2 developments
Two more residential developments could be on tap for the city of Basehor.
In what Basehor city planner Angela Solberg described as a "heads-up meeting" an area developer will discuss during a work session April 19 two single-family residential developments with members of the Basehor Planning Commission.
Ed McIntosh, developer of the Wolf Creek Junction, a commercial and retail development at the northeast corner of 155th Street and U.S. Highway 24/40, is in the planning stages of new developments on 166th Street and on Leavenworth Road.
The development on Leavenworth Road is located on five acres and will include approximately 13 or 14 single-family residential lots. The second development, on 166th Street north of Highway 24/40, will also include single-family lots; further details about the development were not yet available, Solberg said.
The 166th Street development is not located in the city. Honey Creek Farms, a mixed-use development on 166th Street south of the highway, lies within city boundaries.
Solberg said an issue for McIntosh and the city to determine is whether the development should be annexed into the city.
"He's talking to the city and the county trying to see what makes the most sense," Solberg said. "Right now, he just wants to get everybody up to speed and find out where to go from here."
