Track competes at Louisburg
The Lansing High track team competed Thursday at the Louisburg Track Invitational at Louisburg High School and a number of Lions placed in the top six.
Senior Tiffany Turner came less than an inch from tying her school-record in the shot put when she won the event with a throw of 36-11. Junior Amanda Radovich won the javelin with a toss of 108-0.
Freshman Takeisha Jenkins pulled off a three-event sweep was she won the 200-meter dash (26.4 seconds), 100-meter dash (15.7 seconds) and 300-meter hurdles 47.6 seconds.
Jenkins also earned a third-place medal along with Laura Abramovitz, Natalie Groves and Sara Eustice in the 400-meter relay.
Eustice earned a third-place medal in the pole vault for clearing 8-foor-6, Keele McLauren was fourth in the discus with a throw of 100-0 and Kara Ritchey was fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:41.
On the boys' side, the 400-meter relay team (Michael Griffin, Lance Fink, Jeff Slater, E.J. Corinealdi) placed fourth in 45.03, Slater was third in the 400-meter dash (54.3 seconds) and fifth in the 200-meter dash (24.0 seconds). Senior Neal Watson placed second in the javelin (149-8), Will Johnson was sixth in the triple jump (37-4) and senior Ethan Nalker was sixth in the 300 hurdles (48.2 seconds).
The Lions next compete Tuesday at Platte City and then on Friday at Gardner.
