Council meets with administrator finalists
The two finalists for the vacant Basehor city administrator position were scheduled to sit down with members of the Basehor City Council Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
Results from those interviews were not available as of press time.
At Monday night's Basehor City Council meeting, mayor Chris Garcia urged council members to clear their schedules so the interviews could be completed.
"My suggestion is we get this done as soon as possible," said Garcia, who has consistently listed hiring a new city administrator as his top priority.
In the past several weeks, council members have whittled down the field of administrator candidates from 20 to 25 applicants to the two finalists.
This week marks the second time the two finalists have met with council members.
Like the first interview, the council will once again be short-handed when meeting with the candidates.
Two council members were not able to attend the first interview; council member Keith Sifford said this week that he will not be able to attend the meetings Wednesday and Thursday due to a previous commitment.
"I think both of them are qualified and both of them would make a good candidate," Sifford said. "I put my trust in the council to decide (between them)."
