President Jason Miles called the monthly meeting of the Reno Bobwhites 4-H Club to order at 7:41 p.m. on Aug. 4.
Tyler Grammar led the club in the Pledge of Allegiance, and Ryan Grammar led the 4-H Pledge. Song leaders Emily Stoker, Kaitlynn Saathoff and Bonnie Monahan led the club in singing "My Bunny Lies Over My Doggy." Song leaders Aaron McIntyre and Austin Wiley led the club in singing "Happy Birthday" to members with August birthdays.
Roll call was answered by "the color of your shirt."
Secretary Max Packard read the minutes from last month's meeting, which were approved as read.
Treasurer Stephanie Reynolds gave the treasurer's report.
Reporter Norman Schlight reported that the July report was submitted to the Basehor Sentinel, Tonganoxie Mirror and The Lansing Current. County Council Representative Patrick Monahan gave a report of the last County Council meeting.
The election of new Senior Officers for the 2005-06 4-H year was held. The newly elected officers are: Jason Miles, president; Nicole Allen, vice president; Hilary Saathoff, vice president of committees; Ben Reynolds, treasurer; Norman Schlight, reporter; Nikki Gee, County Council representative. Induction of the new officers will be at he October meeting.
Norman Schlight announced that the election of junior officers would be at the September meeting and nominations were being taken.
Janice McCue and Donna Wiley awarded certificates to all of the teens that led the Safety Day Camp. An award was also given to adult Connie Reynolds for her work on the club shirts.
Max Packard reminded members of the round robin dinner being served by the level 3 foods group (to those 13 and over) later this month. Mrs. Miles invited the 10 members that had gone on the July 15 educational trip to the Truman Home, Japanese Gardens, an organ recital and the Waggoner Estate to share what they had learned/experienced on the trip.
Norman Schlight gave a project talk on constructive clothing concerning the basics parts of a sewing machine and tools that come in most sewing kits.
Garret Finch gave a project talk on rocketry and talked about his rocket called the Express.
A safety tip was given by Daniel Monahan concerning wearing sunscreen while outside in the sun.
Ben Jacobs gave a safety tip to be aware of where animals are at the fair so that you can avoid being injured.
Grace Reilly gave a self-determined project talk on dance and gymnastics. She also showed some skills she had learned in gymnastics. Ben, Jacob and Stephanie Reynolds did a project talk on how to judge rabbits.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:17 p.m.
