Area optometrist achieves fellowship
A recent addition to the staff at Reifschneider Eye Center in Leavenworth has earned recognition from a national association of optometrists.
Amanda Strom, O.D., was awarded Fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry earlier this month at Academy 2005 San Diego, the group's annual meeting.
Professionals who become Fellows of the Academy must have submitted written work and pass an oral exam, which are reviewed by a panel of optometrists and vision scientists. Less than 10 percent of practicing optometrists are Fellows of the Academy.
Strom graduated from the University of Missouri-St. Louis and completed post-doctoral residency training in hospital-based primary-care optometry, ocular disease and low-vision rehabilitation at Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Hines, Ill. She has been practicing at Reifschneider since July.
