Auto accident injures two
Two people suffered possible injuries in a traffic accident Monday involving three vehicles.
The accident occurred about 7:12 a.m. at the intersection of Main Street and Eisenhower Road when a Pontiac Firebird traveling south on Main Street collided with a Lexus sport utility vehicle that was turning left onto Eisenhower Road.
Lansing Police Chief Steve Wayman said, when the SUV was struck, it spun, slid into a Dodge Caravan waiting at the light on Eisenhower Road and then fell on its side.
The driver of the SUV, a 55-year-old Cleveland, Mo., woman, was pulled from her vehicle and taken by ambulance to Saint John Hospital in Leavenworth. The driver of the Firebird, a 27-year-old Belton, Mo., man, was also taken by ambulance to Saint John Hospital. Wayman said he thought the injuries were minor.
The accident is still under investigation, Wayman said, and it is possible that the drivers involved may receive a traffic citation.
