Sixth-graders display spirit of giving
Seven students from Basehor-Linwood's sixth-grade center believed it was a good idea to participate in helping local families this holiday season.
"They were enthusiastic about doing it," said Laurie Hannon, IDEA teacher at the sixth-grade center. "They wanted to adopt a kid about their own age."
The generous seven -- Russell Clark, Ben Kamm, Alec Smith, Landon Nigh, Nick Stahl, Spencer Himpel and Garrett Kahle -- sold cookies, brownies and puppy chow trail mix to fellow sixth-grade students. They raised approximately $150, which was donated to the Basehor-Linwood Assistance Services adopt-a-family program to be used to provide gifts to less fortunate area youth.
"We wanted to help a 10-year-old have a good Christmas," Alec Smith said.
