December 22, 2005

Saint John Hospital has announced the hiring of Ed Gordon as its director of surgical and obstetrical services.

In his new position, Gordon is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Leavenworth hospital's Surgery and Ambulatory Surgery Services, as well as the Women's Center.

"This is a wonderful opportunity to work with hospital leadership on the development of the new Saint John Hospital, focusing on patient and physician needs," said Gordon, who is a registered nurse.

Prior to joining Saint John, Gordon was the director of the Louisiana State University Health Network Ambulatory Surgery Center in New Orleans. Gordon's other hospital experience includes working at Memorial Medical Center, New Orleans, as the hospital's surgery manager.

Gordon received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of New Orleans and his nursing degree from the Charity School of Nursing in New Orleans.

He is involved in the local chapter of the Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN).

A native of New Orleans, Gordon and his wife, Lisa, now make their home in Lenexa. Lisa Gordon, R.N., is a surgery staff nurse with Providence Medical Center. The couple's son, Nicolas, currently is attending the University of Saint Mary, where he is studying history.
