Pet spaying help offered

February 10, 2005

Leavenworth Animal Welfare Society will provide financial assistance to residents in the county to encourage them to spay or neuter their animals.

Through March 31, the society will pay $20 per dog and $15 per cat. Payments will be made to veterinarians.

The program is available to Leavenworth County residents only, and the society will pay for a limit of four animals per household.

To participate in the program, call (913) 651-4780 or (913) 651-5297 before visiting your veterinarian.

During a similar program last fall, 210 animals were spayed or neutered, according to society officials.
