Lansing Historical Society At a Glance:

Meetings: The society meets the last Tuesday of every month. The next meeting is Feb. 22. Lockwood said she intends to discuss the upcoming Spaghetti Dinner fund-raiser.

Members: There are 244 members, 188 of whom are lifetime members
Membership dues:
$5: Senior Citizen and Student memberships
$10: Individual memberships

$50: Business or Professional memberships
$100: Lifetime membership
Longer-term plans:
Lansing Historical Society is in the process of planning for a new building.
"We're working on getting information together and writing a grant," Lockwood said. The society is working with Lansing City employee Shanae Randolph to write the grant. The new building would be built behind the current museum to hold prison memorabilia and exhibits. The grant application is due at the end of September 2005. If the group receives the grant, it will be able to start using the money in January 2006.
Museum Location: 115 E. Kansas Avenue
Museum Hours: Saturday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sunday 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The Museum is closed from Thanksgiving weekend until Presidents' Day.
