LHS sophomore wins 140-pound state championship in dominating fashion
Wichita Lansing High sophomore Kyle Grape captured the Class 5A wrestling state championship at 140 pounds Saturday night at the Kansas Coliseum as he dominated the match from start to finish and earned at 15-9 decision.
Grape, who placed fourth at state as a freshman, is Lansing's first individual state champion since 1997.
Grape's performance helped push the Lions to a sixth place finish in the team standings.
