Lunatics start strong at World Series

— The Lunatics softball team opened pool play at the USSSA World Series on a strong note on Tuesday.

They beat the Lincoln Magic - the No. 1-ranked team in Nebraska for class 18B - by a 5-4 margin in nine innings. After that, the Lunatics knocked off Sudden Impact - the top-ranked team in Missouri - by an 8-5 decision.

The Lunatics have wrapped up the No. 1 seed in their pool but will close out pool play at 8 a.m. Wednesday against the Michigan Explosion.
