Local real estate firm moves to new offices

June 2, 2005

It should be easy for area residents to find the location of Saturday's community open house and the new RE/MAX All American office. All they need to do is look for the giant red, white and blue RE/MAX balloon that will be hovering Saturday over the company's new office at 22517 139th St., near Kansas Highway 7.

Recently, the company moved from its previous location on Parallel Road in Basehor after purchasing and updating an1880s farmhouse on the new site. To celebrate the move and introduce the community to the company's new home, RE/MAX officials announced a June 4 open house. The free event will run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and feature tethered hot-air balloon rides for people 14 and older, broker/owner Randy Cunningham said. Additionally, children too young to ride the balloon will be able to bounce around in an inflatable moonwalk.

"It is going to be a fun night," he said. "Just seeing the view from a hot-air balloon, especially for someone who has never done it before, will be awesome."

Refreshments will also be served and free rides will be available throughout the event, weather permitting.

Although RE/MAX employees have only been able to enjoy their new home for a couple of months, they said they are already pleased with the move.

"We love the location because the traffic is phenomenal," Cunningham said. "We actually have walk-ins that we did not have in our old location."

The new office is also within the city of Basehor and the company is celebrating its sixth year doing business in the community, Cunningham said.

Although the tone of the celebration will be informal, Cunningham said he and his staff would not mind talking shop a bit. He said many open house visitors may well have questions about the booming housing markets in southern Leavenworth or western Wyandotte counties.

"It is going to be a fun time and not necessarily focused on work," he said. "But if someone has questions about real estate we can certainly do that here too."
