Richard L. Chmidling Sr.
Mass of Christian Burial for Richard L. Chmidling Sr., 66, Leavenworth, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, at St. Casmir's Catholic Church. Burial will be at a later date at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Lansing.
Mr. Chmidling died Saturday, June 25, 2005, at Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan.
He was born May 13, 1939, in Nortonville, the son of John and Agnes (Meier) Chmidling.
He graduated from Nortonville High School in 1957 and took a job at Lansing State Penitentiary, where he worked until 1966. Afterwards, he moved to Leavenworth, where he opened, owned and operated RL Chmidling Construction Co. until his semiretirement in 2003.
Mr. Chmidling was an avid member of Kansas Trapshooters Association and St. Casmir's Catholic Church.
On Feb. 7, 1987, he married Catherine Eileen Mohan Booker in Leavenworth. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include four sons, Rick, Tim, Robert and Ed; a stepson, Terry Booker, Phoenix; two daughters, Debbie Chmidling and Darlene Dean; two stepdaughters, Michelle and Kathi Booker; three brothers, Bill, Jerry and John; three sisters, Mary Chmidling, Joan Noll and Carol Daniels; and eight grandchildren.
A son, Tommy, died earlier.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, June 27, at Bennett-Larkin-Brown Funeral Home, where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
The family suggests memorials to St. Casmir's Catholic Church or to the donor's favorite charity, sent in care of the funeral home, 707 S. Sixth St., Leavenworth 66048
