- The Kansas Highway Patrol has completed its investigation into the circumstances leading to a Dec. 2004 traffic accident that claimed the life a local volunteer firefighter and has submitted its findings to the Leavenworth County District Attorney’s Office for review of possible charges.

- The Basehor City Council has a candidate in mind for its vacated city administrator’s position and is currently reviewing a contract that could be offered to that person, Basehor mayor Joseph Scherer said Monday night.

- The health of Jack Williams, a late Basehor resident of 40 years and a community pillar, had deteriorated gradually throughout the last several years and was failing him again last week. Before he left this world, however, Williams accomplished another in a long list of lifetime achievements.

- For the second time in recent years, the Kansas Department of Transportation awarded the city of Basehor a grant for street construction. For the second time in recent years, the city of Basehor has withdrawn acceptance of that state money.

- Agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, along with officers from the Basehor Police Department, are conducting a probe into funds found missing from an automated teller machine at the Basehor branch of First State Bank and Trust.
