The Kansas Highway Patrol has completed its investigation into the circumstances leading to a Dec. 2004 traffic accident that claimed the life a local volunteer firefighter and has submitted its findings to the Leavenworth County District Attorney’s Office for review of possible charges.

For the second time in recent years, the Kansas Department of Transportation awarded the city of Basehor a grant for street construction. For the second time in recent years, the city of Basehor has withdrawn acceptance of that state money.

Agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, along with officers from the Basehor Police Department, are conducting a probe into funds found missing from an automated teller machine at the Basehor branch of First State Bank and Trust.
