Lawrence F. McKibben
Mass of Christian Burial for Lawrence F. McKibben, 72, Leavenworth, was Saturday at Leavenworth Veterans Affairs Holy Ghost Catholic Chapel. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Overland Park.
Mr. McKibben died Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, at Dwight D. Eisenhower Veterans Affairs Nursing Home, Leaven-worth.
He was born Aug. 30, 1932, in Hannibal, Mo., the son of Lawrence and Lena McKibben. At age 10, he moved to Kansas City, Mo.
After graduating from De La Salle High School in 1950, he served seven years in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Before he retired in 1988, He was a partner of K&M Sales, a manufacturing company. He then sold specialty advertising for Ad Craft.
Mr. McKibben and his family moved to Leavenworth in 1971.
He was active in the Lansing High Booster Club and Leavenworth Country Club. He and his wife operated the Santa Surplus Stores and fireworks stands for many years.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Nancy; three sons, Lawrence, St. Louis, Kevin, Roseville, Calif., and Grant, Leavenworth; a daughter, Nicole Murdock, Gardner; two sisters Mary Roberts, Wichita and Rita Crutcher, Citrus Heights, Calif.; and 12 grandchildren.
His first wife, Jane Ann, died in 1957, and a daughter, Kitty, died in 1971.
The family suggests memorials to Heart of America Alzheimer's Association, sent in care of Davis Funeral Home, 531 Shawnee, Leavenworth 66048.
