LHS library adds to Asian collection
The Lansing High School library has added to its East Asia collection, thanks to a grant from the Kansas Consortium for Teaching About Asia.
The library has to date received a total of $1,200 in East Asian materials because Linda Leffler, Debra Hutton, Tracy Hutton and Mary Alice Schroeger successfully completed the East Asia Institute for Teachers.
The institute is a graduate course offered by the Kansas Consortium for Teaching About Asia at the University of Kansas. Funded by the Freeman Foundation of New York and Stowe, Vt., it teaches elementary and secondary teachers how to incorporate East Asian content into their own classrooms across all curriculum areas and all grade levels.
Teachers who complete the requirements of the institute receive a $500 stipend. Their schools then receive the $300 grant for educational materials.
