NeVada Ann Runnebaum

— Mass of the Resurrection for NeVada Ann Runnebaum, 93, Leavenworth, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Leavenworth.Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Mrs. Runnebaum died Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan.

She was born Feb. 6, 1912, at Oketo, the daughter of William and Charlotte (Cook) Peterman.

She graduated from Beattie High School in 1929 and attended Emporia Teachers College. She taught from 1929 to 1935 in rural schools in White Cloud and Hattan. She went on to receive a cosmetology and hairdressing certificate from Caster Beauty Academy and worked as a beautician in Kansas City, Mo., and Summerfield. She continued to do beauty work out of her home throughout her lifetime.

Mrs. Runnebaum worked for the city of Lansing in the late 1960s and early 1970s. She was a Democrat Precinct Committeewoman and worked on the Election Board for many years.

Mrs. Runnebaum was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and its Altar Society, past president of St. Malachy's Catholic Church Altar Society in Beattie, member of the Lady Knights Council 900, The Friendship Club, lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, and past madam of Eagles Auxiliary No. 55.

She married Vincent Runnebaum on March 26, 1940, in Beattie. He died Feb. 14, 1997.

A son, Harold Charles Runnebaum, died in 1970.

Survivors include four sons, William Runnebaum, Ray Runnebaum and Donald Runnebaum, all of Leavenworth, and Vincent Leo Runnebaum, Lansing; a daughter, Joyce Finnigin, Lansing; a brother, Leo Peterman, East Waterford, Maine; 17 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. Monday at R.L. Leintz Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday. A parish rosary will take place at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials to Xavier Catholic Schools or the Arthritis Foundation, sent in care of the funeral home, 4701 10th Ave., Leavenworth 66048.
