Policeman is promoted
Basehor police chief Terry Horner has named Greg Hallgrimson, a local police officer for the past several years, as the department's corporal.
"Officer Hallgrimson has led the way in departmental productivity of the entire department in various different avenues," Horner wrote in a letter to members of the Basehor City Council.
He added, "Officer Hallgrimson has routinely taken the initiative and volunteered to take on additional police duties without departmental pay. I have noticed that he has a professional police appearance, is pro-active, a willing to learn attitude and has always completed assignments given to him by this administration without resistance and takes orders very well from his supervisors."
The City Council approved Hallgrimson's promotion Monday night and set his salary at $14.57 an hour.
In February, the police department hosted tests for the corporal's position. Four officers were to test, but two dropped out. Hallgrimson was selected ahead of another Basehor officer.
