Eight Slammers medal at state championships
Topeka Despite two medical defaults, the Slammer Wrestling Club had a banner weekend at the USA Wrestling Kansas Kids State Championships.
Thirteen Slammers traveled to state for Friday's first day action. Twelve advanced to Saturday's competition and a club record eight brought home medals. The record haul earned the praise of Slammers coach Mike Flynn.
"We had a very good day today... a very good day," Flynn said. "Today we just hammered back and we medaled eight. It was fantastic."
Four Slammers - Bo Pursel, Brad Terron, Rowdy Andrews and Sean Flynn - earned third-place finishes. Elijah Hill placed fourth, Eric Wessel was fifth and William Jacobson and Geno DeGraw added sixth-place medals.
