Students named to honor band

November 23, 2005

Three Lansing students are eligible to audition for the all-state band after being selected for the Northeast District Honor Band on Nov. 12.

About 60 or 70 students make up each honor band, LHS band director Luke Johnson said. For class 5A and 6A schools, students can be chosen for one of two honor bands.

Junior Adam New earned first-chair snare drum in the top band for class 5A and 6A schools. Sophomore Edwin Fluevog was selected to play trombone in the second 5A and 6A band. Sophomore Elizabeth Parks secured a spot as an alternate for bass clarinet.

The Northeast District Honor Band will convene Dec. 3 at Blue Valley High School to practice and perform.

Auditions for the all-state band will be Jan. 7 in Salina.
